Philip Sen
Habitat project

Philip currently oversees bushfire resilience projects in the greater Blue Mountains region for Habitat for Humanity Australia. Previously a journalist, in 2008 he joined the United Nations Volunteers program headquarters in Germany and in 2012 was posted to the UN Resident Coordinator’s Office in Cambodia. After the UN he worked with non-profits in Cambodia on various disaster risk reduction, climate change adaptation and water and sanitation projects. In 2016 he relocated to Australia, where he has worked in stakeholder engagement roles with volunteer organisations such as the St Vincent de Paul Society (Vinnies) and Médecins Sans Frontières/Doctors Without Borders (MSF).

I’ll talk a bit about my experience in Cambodia on disaster risk reduction:

  • The flood and drought risk in Cambodia
  • Informing rural people about what to do in an emergency

And the current Habitat disaster risk reduction program in the Blue Mountains:

  • What we’re trying to do and why
  • How we’re trying to do it
